Intensive Weekend Certificate Course in Urban Agriculture at ECO City Farms

When: March 23, 24, 25 or May 18, 19, 20, 2012 or September 7, 8, 9, 2012

What: A New Intensive Weekend Course in Urban Agriculture offered by Prince George’s Community College and ECO City Farms, register early, courses fill quickly!

Times: Fridays and Saturdays 9:30-6:00 and Sundays 12:00-6:00 (with lunch & snack daily)

Where: Taught at ECO City Farms, Edmonston, MD. Intensive course is $525, inclusive.

Description: This 22 hour, very intensive weekend hands-on course will provide you with sustainable strategies you require to plan and design an intensive food production system, based on your needs, goals, and resources, and suited to your own individual urban space.  It includes five (5) core modules. Starting Your Farm, Composting 101, Hoophouse Design and Construction, Intro to Urban Livestock, Harvest, Processing and Marketing.

A maximum of 20 people can be accommodated per weekend, so please register early to assure your place.

The festivities continue today from 4-6 pm – come out for snacks from Chipotle, door prizes from Community Forklift and Yes! Organic Market, samples for your puppies from The Big Bad Woof! and lots of fun! Come tour our farm in its fall glory – you can even buy some produce for the weekend! Also, check out our aquaponics demonstration – we have fish!

Come check out our new mural at ECO City Farms in Edmonston. It is part of a public art and food project. Here’s the details for the mural unveiling event. We will use the forum to discuss the upcoming farm extension.

Urban Farmers to Assemble in Baltimore for Workshops and Farm Tours

There is an urban farmers workshops and farm tours organizedd by The Greenhorns on Sept 15, 2011. This is an all day event that is free and open to the public. The event will feature urban farmers in Baltimore who will provide tours, workshops in building hoop houses, and lectures on restoring urban ecologies. I pasted the event poster below.
